BEAD MAKING

Perhaps in your lifetime you’ve likely had someone ask you this
question. Where did you get that stunning bracelet? I’d love to have one just like it” May be you responded by saying it was a gift, or by narrating the name of the shop where you found the piece. Whatever your response you no doubt enjoyed having someone admire your taste in jewellery.

Imagine now how much fun it would be to answer that you made the bracelet yourself—beads and all. It may sound completely out of reach, but bead making can actually be a fairly simple process to master.
Beads can be created from all sorts of materials—many of which you probably have on hand. For example, did you know that you could create beads out of a potato, a few scraps of paper or a twig from your yard? It’s true. In fact, often the simplest materials create some of the most interesting beads.

In this course we’ll go over techniques for creating beads from clay, wire, formers and a variety of natural materials ranging from paper to twigs. The step-by-step instructions accompanying each lesson will make it easy for you to recreate all of the featured projects on your own. The course will be taught for 4-6 hours a week for six months. The course will be assessed by building up a portfolio of evidence and assessments will be carried out through observing practical activities.
